Supported Accommodation Team Leader

The Magdalene Group has been supporting people affected by sexual exploitation for over 23 years. We have built an excellent reputation for engaging those hardest to reach, whilst delivering well-run, evidence-based programmes to suit individual needs. Our expertise makes us well placed to recognise the routes into sexual exploitation, provide effective prevention, early intervention and services for those affected. We are constantly striving to adapt our services according to the needs presented to us.

EnRoute is a new aspirational and therapeutic supported accommodation service for females, aged 16 – 18, who have been affected by child sexual exploitation. We are seeking an exceptional staff team who can deliver this cutting-edge work, deal effectively with challenging situations and behaviour, build sustained positive relationships and provide the best possible outcomes for young women as they transition into adulthood.

Our approach is to safeguard young women in a community setting, where they can learn how to manage risk, receive specialised therapeutic support and develop self-esteem, whilst living somewhere welcoming, nurturing, homely and safe. We aim to build positive relationships to provide opportunities for the future.

We are pleased to soon be opening our first home for two young women, with a second and third home planned over the next year.

Team Leader

30 or 37.5 hours per week : hours to include one night-waking shift per week and some evening and weekend work.

 This is an exciting opportunity to manage a home providing specialist and therapeutic services.  We are seeking a highly motivated person, with a proven track record, who can establish this innovative, caring therapeutic home; who has a thorough understanding of the needs of young people, and who will take responsibility for leading a team of staff, comprising house-mother, support workers and therapeutic workers, to provide the best possible outcomes for young women.

The successful candidate will:

  • have a sound understanding of the safeguarding legal framework for young people 16+ and compliance with local authority safeguarding procedures.
  • ensure housing management policies and practices are effectively operated; to include maximisation of income, licence management and implementation of fair and equitable referral procedures.
  • manage a value-based service, embedding the restorative approach and monitoring all delivery.
  • demonstrate an awareness of health and safety regulations and procedures to minimise risk.
  • maintain a high regard for young people, with the ability to relate successfully to individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds, and to manage conflict situations.

Salary £26,500 – £28,500 FTE, plus 5% pension.

House Mother

38 hours per week : 5 pm – 10 pm including one night-waking shift per week

We are seeking a special person who can create a nurturing home environment, providing the young women with time and interest; supporting their emotional and physical needs; providing a hot nutritious evening meal and undertaking general housekeeping duties, whilst enabling the young women to develop their own independent living skills.

Support Worker night-waking

40 hours per week 10 pm – 7 am

 Support Worker various shifts

To complement this team we are looking for both day and night working support workers to build strong positive relationships and provide opportunities for the future, through encouraging and supporting day to day activities including education, volunteering, developing interests and hobbies.

We are delighted to be supported by Victory Housing in the delivery of this project where the Team Leader post will be based.
