However it happens and whoever commits it, child sexual exploitation is always wrong. Abusers use clever tricks to make victims feel isolated and alone, stopping them from asking for help and cutting them off from friends and family.
As a result, a lot of young people who experience sexual exploitation can feel completely alone. Many become depressed because of the abuse and a lot feel like the future isn’t anything to look forward to.
However, if you get the help and support you need, your future can be exciting, positive and full of possibilities.Samantha Morton

Like many young people, Oprah Winfrey was abused by people she knew. From the age of nine the talk show host was molested by an uncle, a cousin and family friend and after running away at 14 experienced further sexual exploitation.
Having spoken publicly about her experiences, Oprah used her show to talk more about the subject, helping to raise awareness and give hope to young people currently experiencing abuse.
Now famous as the star of TV show Desperate Housewives, Teri Hatcher was abused by an uncle by marriage from the age of five.
Having stayed silent about the abuse for years, the actress spoke up about her experiences after her abuser went on to molest another young girl. After testifying in the court case, Hatcher saw her abuser found guilty and sentenced to 14 years in prison.
One of the most famous actresses of the 1990s, Pamela Anderson is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful women in the world.
However as a child and teenager the star suffered ongoing sexual abuse, first at the hands of a babysitter, then by her teenage boyfriend. On top of the abuse, Anderson’s father was an alcoholic so she was unable to turn to him for help and support.
It’s not just women, there are lots of notable male famous faces who experienced sexual abuse and exploitation in their younger years, from rock star Axl Rose to comedian Tom Ford and media mogul Tyler Perry. Child sexual exploitation doesn’t discriminate against gender or race.
However it happens and whoever is responsible, child sexual exploitation is always the fault of the abuser. All of these celebrities were young and vulnerable at the time of the abuse and were likely selected by their abusers for just those reasons.
