Magdalene Group chosen by East of England Co-op as part of their Community Token Scheme
19 May 2015
From supporting women and young people affected by sexual exploitation to providing information, resources and sympathetic ear to anyone worried about the issue, the Magdalene Group provides an incredibly important service day in, day out.
As much of our funding comes from local people and local businesses, any donations that we receive are hugely appreciated, with the money going directly to fund projects and offer support for the women who need it most.
This month, the Magdalene Group are very proud to announce that we have been selected by the East of England Co-op to be part of their Community Token Scheme. Fantastic for raising funds and raising awareness, the scheme will help the Magdalene Group to support even more women and young people affect by sexual exploitation.
The East of England Co-op Community Token Scheme
Every three months, the East of England Co-op selects three local charities to be part of its Community Token Scheme.
Each charity that is chosen to take part in the scheme has a collection box placed in a selection of Co-op stores in the local area. When East of England Co-op members shop with the store, they receive a plastic token that they can place in the charity box of their choice.
After three months, the tokens are counted and the £1,000 fund donated by the Co-op divided accordingly between the chosen charities.
Getting involved with the scheme
The best way to get involved with the scheme is to become a member of the East of England Co-op. As well as allowing you to support local charities, becoming a member of the Co-op will give you the chance to get involved with a wide range of community events and organisations.
