World Suicide Prevention Day

Ahead of World Suicide Prevention Day - which is hosted on 10th September each year, by the International Association for Suicide Prevention - providing the opportunity for people, across the globe, to raise awareness of suicide and suicide prevention. Suicide is the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the country, but suicides among teenage girls and young women have almost doubled in recent years. The 2021-2023 theme for World Suicide Prevention Day, as set by the International Association for Suicide Prevention, is ‘creating hope through action’. The message is clear – to help create hope through action, by reflecting on how you can support someone in your life who may be experiencing suicidal thoughts or at risk of suicide. Encouraging understanding and sharing experiences creates a society where people have the confidence to take action, building hope for the future. https://mentalhealth-uk.org/get-involved/mental-health-awareness-days/world-suicide-prevention-day/

Sessions for Professionals

Our popular occasional sessions for professionals continue online for the moment. Hosted by members of our Rose & Doorway teams, they provide not only an opportunity for us to share the work of The Magdalene Group but also for professionals from other agencies to talk about their roles and experiences, & between us we can share best practice. The next sessions take place from 10 - 11 a.m. on Thursday 29th September, Wednesday 26th October & Tuesday 29th November; if you would like to attend, please contact the office on 01603 610256 to book a place, as numbers are limited. One of our most recent guests said "I found the session super informative and really helpful, the two ladies did a great job at presenting and were both very friendly. The work you do is truly wonderful and if I work with any young at risk of exploitation, I will most certainly signpost to you and drop a referral if needed. " Do join us if you can.
