Keep calm : it’s only a team away day!

"On Wednesday we held an away day for our organisation at the beautiful Great Hospital - what a great venue, thanks to the staff who provided us with refreshments and a delicious lunch.
One of the biggest highlights of the day was when the Mayor and Sheriff presented The Magdalene Group with the Trusted Charity Kite Mark - a quality control benchmark which we've worked so hard to achieve.
The away day is a chance for us to bring together our trustees, volunteers and staff. This years theme was "Looking back, looking forward" and gave us an opportunity to come together and discuss our work over the last few years and where we see our organisation in five years time. This is so important to us at the Magdalene Group because it ensures that we constantly offer the best possible service which works for our client groups, moves with evolving ideas of exploitation and provides valuable services where gaps are identified.
In the first sessions the managers of our projects gave an overview of our respective services - wow, it was amazing to hear everything that we do day-to-day and how much the organisation has grown! After this the lovely Amanda, Janice, Lucy and Caroline facilitated afternoon sessions around key questions and ways forward. It was great to see so much passion within the room and so many inspired people - thanks to everyone who attended!"
Abbie Haines, Outreach Worker.

"....a very informative and moving session."
Quote from one of our guests, following the morning presentation.

"It continues to be a huge pleasure and privilege to work with you and the wider team."
Amanda Reynolds.

".....we enjoyed the day very much as well. We always like helping out for a good cause."
Hetty Kitson, Hospitality Co-ordinator, The Great Hospital.

"What an amazing Away Day The Magdalene Group held at the Great Hospital yesterday. Ably led by Suzi and Amanda, and wonderful to have so many volunteers, staff and trustees in the room, who were full of enthusiasm and ideas for moving forward over the next five years."
Georgina Holloway, Chair of Trustees.

"Every three years The Magdalene Group holds an Away Day to 'look back and look forward'. Trustees, staff and volunteers met on February 27th and heard encouraging reports on the charity's progress in its 4 main work-streams. The Lord Mayor of Norwich and the Sheriff joined us for this and presented us with the NCVO Trusted Charity award for quality for charities which we have recently been working hard to achieve. Then it was down to hard work together on how we see the future for the organisation - what are the challenges and what directions do we want to take? Results from a lot of engaged discussion via flip-charts and post-it notes will come to trustees on May 1st. Watch this space..."
Nick Miller,
Company Secretary, Trustees.

"As someone who has only recently joined The Magdalene Group, the Away Day was a great opportunity to look back on the history of the charity and the real-life impact its services have on the women and young people of Norfolk. It was wonderful seeing how passionate all the attendees were in planning for the future of The Magdalene Group and I’m excited to see where the next 5 years takes us! "
Katie Morris, Volunteer.

"As an outreach volunteer with the Doorway project, I found the Away Day a good opportunity to catch up with staff, other volunteers and trustees and to hear about their ideas and hopes for the future. It was so heartening to witness the staff's compassion for the women and young people they work with, as well as their dedication to continue to make the service even better.”
Jeanette White, Volunteer.

"Thank you so much for inviting me to The Magdalene Group Away Day. It was very rewarding to meet some of your trustees and staff and to hear about the impressive range of services and support you provide for your vulnerable clients. And congratulations again on your successful achievement of the NCVO Trusted Charity status!"
Ros, Sheriff of Norwich
