Beyond the Streets conference

Suzi, our CEO, is attending the Beyond the Streets conference, currently taking place in London at The Royal Foundation of St. Katharine. "Today we kick off the #LeadersGathering - leaders from thirty of our affiliated projects that respond to #SexualExploitation across the UK gathered at @RKSFLondon to share, support & strategise for the next two days. Didn't know about our Affiliate Network?.... We run a membership network of faith-based projects who are responding to sexual exploitation in communities across the UK. Through events, training and a quarterly briefing we share good practice on supporting women to exit sexual exploitation. There are currently 35 projects in the network, the majority represented with us for the #LeadersGathering!" It is at The Royal Foundation of St. Katharine

Trauma-informed Practice training

"On Monday 20th May, I attended Trauma-Informed Practice training in London with AVA (Against Violence and Abuse). This was some really informative training. I met some lovely people and came away with some great ideas around helping make our service more trauma-informed. The training also showed me how well our service already does at being trauma-informed by being able to offer a women-only space and having a defined point of responsibility for creating trauma-informed services." Tabitha Rodwell, Therapeutic Practitioner.

Internet Safety

"On Wednesday 15th May, the Jigsaw team spent a jam-packed and fun day working with Year 7's at Long Stratton High School. They held 5 sessions throughout the day, educating students about internet safety, online grooming and cyber-bullying. It was an interactive day and the students had lots of ideas about what to look out for online and how to handle any concerns should they arise. It was a great day and we look forward to hopefully returning to Long Stratton High in the future!" Morwenna Chaffe

Tricky Period

Tricky Period

Homeless women and females on low incomes benefit from services set up to provide free sanitary products at Norwich’s main libraries. The Tricky Period project involves the libraries taking donations of products and handing them out to people who cannot afford them, with no questions asked about proof of eligibility. The Magdalene Group supports this initiative & can provide its service-users with any sanitary products they require.

Clinks’ annual conference 2019

Suzi Heybourne, our CEO, is attending Clinks' annual conference 2019 in London today. The conference 'creating change together' offers attendees the chance to hear from key policy and decision makers, and to network with voluntary sector organisations and government officials. "People in the criminal justice system and their families are facing increasing challenges in getting the support they need to lead fulfilling lives. Successive political and administrative changes to the structures in criminal justice, coupled with reducing resources, mean that many people are unable to get the help they need. The voluntary sector’s role is more important than ever, but it too faces unprecedented challenges. Into the future, we need to work together to speak up on behalf of service users and communities, and to provide flexible services that meet changing needs. Clinks is ambitious about the future and potential of the sector. We want to build and support a movement of organisations who play an essential role in helping people to desist from crime and turn their lives around."

Presentation

Presentation

A nice little presentation, over tea & cake - & before last evening's trustees meeting - to acknowledge the valuable contribution - over the years - of Stephen, David & John, three of our long-serving volunteers. 'Thank you' is never enough.
