Norfolk Safeguarding Adults Board : Tricky Friends animation

"Tricky Friends" is a short animation developed by NSAB to help people to understand what good friendships are, when they might be harmful, and what they can do : https://www.norfolksafeguardingadultsboard.info/about-us/current-campaigns/tricky-friends-animation/ Over the last few years, NSAB have had a number of discussions with groups and organisations in Norfolk who support people with learning disabilities and autism, about how to raise awareness of issues like exploitation, county lines, cuckooing. It is important that people with learning disabilities and autism, those who have cognitive difficulties, and also children and young adults, have positive opportunities to make and maintain friendships. We want to help them to to do this, to reduce the risk of harm and exploitation in groups who may be less able to recognise the intentions of others. NSAB hope this animation is used as a way to help people to think about the issues, to start those conversations, and keep them safer while enjoying friendships. It is only 3 minutes long, and can be used with or by anyone - carers, family, organisations, groups. We hope you find it helpful - let us know what you think!

Student social worker placement

"I had the opportunity to complete my Level One Social Work placement with The Magdalene Group, from January to May of this year. I was placed within the Rose Team, and from the beginning was given the opportunity to shadow colleagues, attend team and organisation-wide meetings, and undertake training to enrich my understanding of child sexual exploitation (CSE,) and of working with children. The team quickly helped me to feel comfortable and valued, and I was given the opportunity to hold my own caseload and carry out one-to-one sessions with children and young people. I loved being able to work with these individuals, and I felt very supported by The Magdalene Group as I developed my own practice and learning. Thanks to everyone for the fantastic experience!" Eve Wright, Student Social Worker

Unconscious Bias training

The team are taking part in unconscious bias training today, hosted by Homeless Link. Our trainer, Sabrina Pathan, is passionate, enthusiastic & engaging, and the subject matter - whilst uncomfortable at times - is interesting & thought-provoking; lots of opportunity for interaction. I think Sabrina loves our group, as much as we love her!

Thank you to Brewin Dolphin….

....for their recent support & donation, as part of their community grant scheme, which has been running since 2013, helping hundreds of local charities. Thank you is never enough.
