Norfolk LGBT+ Project

Norfolk LGBT+ Project

We were delighted to welcome Juels & Fi from Norfolk LGBT+ Project to talk to us this morning about the work of their charity. Both very passionate and with lots of incentive and enthusiasm, we look forward to a forthcoming workshop to explore opportunities of working together.

Cloth of Kindness

Cloth of Kindness

The Cloth of Kindness is a textile arts project inspired by the writings of Julian of Norwich and the beautiful embroidered letters of Lorina Bulmer. People are invited to sew words of kindness onto patches of material which are sewn together to make a quilt.

Presentation to Broadland Housing

"The Doorway Team co-delivered a presentation on the Sex Industry in Norwich at a Broadland Housing Conference recently. We had much-needed conversations around the prevalence of sex work in Norwich, both indoor and outdoor. We also spoke about the specific barriers women that sell sex face when accessing services, particularly around housing and housing associations." Lydia Davies, Women's Specialist Practitioner

Suzi, & members of our Doorway team, together with Kathy Riviere-Wright, Chris D'Souza & Bridget Cole, representatives of Norwich All Saints Women's Institute. The Magdalene Group is currently their chosen charity; they like to support locally, and particularly women and girls. To mark Norfolk Day, they delivered to us 50 home-made gift bags (containing toiletries & treats,) for distribution amongst our outreach work with service-users. How very generous & thoughtful; we are so grateful.

Away Day

Georgie, our Chair of Trustees, very generously hosted our Away Day yesterday. The whole staff team - together with our trustees - spent a very productive working morning, looking at our forward strategy as well as our forthcoming 30th anniversary. A delicious spread for lunch was followed by an opportunity for a relaxing & social afternoon - with much hilarity in the swimming pool and a fiendishly complicated skittles-type game on the lawn. A glass of bubbly rounded off a lovely day. Great company in a perfect setting & the intoxicating scent of sweet peas!

Sessions for professionals

Our popular occasional sessions for professionals continue online for the moment. Hosted by members of our Rose & Doorway teams, they provide not only an opportunity for us to share the work of The Magdalene Group but also for professionals from other agencies to talk about their roles and experiences, & between us we can share best practice. The next session takes place from 10 - 11 a.m. on Thursday 21st July; if you would like to attend, please contact the office on 01603 610256 to book a place, as numbers are limited.
