Counting Dead Women, 2024

The 'Counting Dead Women' project, founded by Karen Ingala Smith, aims to ensure that no UK victim of gender-based violence is forgotten.

The project found that on average since the end of 2009, 140 women have lost their lives each year. That’s an average of two women every 5 days.

Every International Women's Day, MP (and former shadow minister for domestic violence and safeguarding) Jess Phillips reads the names of these women in parliament. You can find this year's reading here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-politics-68437766
