World Homeless Day

You might have heard Beth - one of our Women's Specialist Practitioners - on Future Radio's Breakfast Show yesterday morning. This was an interview with presenter Sophie Rice to mark World Homeless Day. It covered why we should recognise World Homeless Day and the importance of raising awareness about homelessness. Beth also spoke about our work as part of ‘Pathways Norwich.' The Pathways consortium is a great way to network with other homeless agencies and work within a multi agency team; working with services, who use the same trauma-informed approach, provides a cohesive support network for the client, to ensure all their needs are met and to reduce duplication and confusion. Not just breakfast ……

Not just breakfast ……

To mark World Mental Health Day, some of us gathered for a breakfast session this morning. Talk, over tea & toast, as recommended. A rather nice way to start the day.

World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day

“Every year we celebrate World Mental Health Day on 10 October. The theme for 2023, set by the World Foundation of Mental Health, is ‘Mental health is a universal human right’. World Mental Health Day is about raising awareness of mental health and driving positive change for everyone’s mental health. It’s also a chance to talk about mental health, how we need to look after it, and how important it is to get help if you are struggling. Come together with friends, families or colleagues this World Mental Health Day, by holding a Tea & Talk!” Visit : World Mental Health Day 2023 | Mental Health Foundation

Volunteer recruitment presentation eveing

Volunteer recruitment presentation eveing

We were pleased to welcome four potential new volunteers to our recent presentation evening, hosted by Jade & members of the Doorway team. We were also delighted that Nicky Stainton, Communities Manager, Voluntary Norfolk, was able to attend to talk about GetINVolved and the Volunteer Passport - this course covers all the basic training, & to a good standard, that we need our volunteers to complete. We will continue with the recruitment process with Astrid, Emma, Prapti & Stella. Thank you ladies for your interest in The Magdalene Group.

NBHM23 Launch Event : Celebrating our Sisters

NBHM23 Launch Event : Celebrating our Sisters

"Just to say it was a fantastic day at the Forum joining Norfolk Black History Month for their Celebrating our Sisters event, with wellbeing partners such as Voluntary Norfolk, Norfolk Constabulary, Norfolk OPCC and Victim Care coming together to showcase and celebrate the support on offer to women of colour and marginalised groups across the county. With readings and spoken word performances from MBE authors and talks on anti-racism within education and youth justice it was an honour to be part of."
