Visit by Bishop Peter Collins

"The Magdalene Group was honoured to have a visit on Tuesday 28th March from the newly-appointed Bishop of East Anglia, Peter Collins. His predecessor had been one of our Patrons so it was a chance to tell him about our work and to invite him to take Bishop Alan Hope’s place. Bishop Peter comes from South Wales where most of his ministry has been but his studies took place in Spain and he knows the country well. Although he has had no direct knowledge of the lives some of our clients lead, he has seen, and is very aware of, the problems that exist both in that country and in Cardiff and was very supportive of what we do. He said he would be delighted to be a Patron, to pray for our staff and clients, to do anything he could to help and suggested that we contribute to his newsletter which Suzi is happy to do. We enjoyed his company, it was a delightful visit and I think I can speak for The Magdalene Group as a whole in saying that we look forward to a long association with Bishop Peter." Georgina Holloway, Chair of Trustees

Session for Professionals : feedback

"Thank you for inviting me to the training today. It was brilliant to have an overview of the Doorway Women's Service, the Rose Project and the Jigsaw Programmes. I was inspired to hear more about how the Magdalene Group ensures that each individual is supported in a trauma-informed, holistic and person-centred way. I took away many ideas and thoughts. Thank you." Dr Sophie North, Lecturer in Health Sciences, The University of East Anglia.

Poetry from Elizabeth Shane

"I am actively raising awareness of the impact of child sexual abuse into adulthood through my new poetry book ‘Behind the Mask’, using my own unique grasp of emotional, visual and symbolic language to break down barriers around difficult conversations. By sharing my experience, I hope my work offers insight and a deeper understanding into past trauma and how this presents itself in everyday life."
