International Women’s Day

Suzi, our CEO, was one of the guest speakers invited to Brooke's village event yesterday, to celebrate International Women's Day; the event was a fund raiser for The Magdalene Group and an opportunity to raise awareness of our work. We are very grateful for this support.

Ahead of International Sex Workers’ Rights Day……….

Ahead of International Sex Workers’ Rights Day……….

This day’s history goes back to 2001, when over 25,000 sex workers gathered in India for a festival despite efforts from prohibitionist groups who tried to prevent it taking place by pressuring the government to revoke their permit. The event was organised by Durbar Mahila Samanwaya Committee, a Calcutta based group that has over 50,000 sex worker members, and members of their communities. Sex worker groups across the world have subsequently celebrated 3rd March as an annual, international event, as International Sex Workers’ Rights Day.

National Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Day : 18th March, 2023

The Magdalene Group, alongside over 13,000 professionals across the UK, are joining the NWG Network for their National Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Raising Day – 18th March 2023. CSE Awareness Day aims to highlight the issues surrounding child sexual exploitation: encouraging everyone to think, spot and speak out against abuse; adopt a zero tolerance to adults developing inappropriate relationships with children and support young people to have healthy, safe peer relationships. To mark this year’s CSE Awareness Day, The Rose Project is running a programme of networking and awareness sessions for professionals and young people’s services across Norfolk, to shine a spotlight on how the CSE landscape across our county is changing in 2023. #CEADay23 #EndCSEin23

Exploitation Campaign Engagement Focus Group

To help shape the Police and Crime Commissioner for Norfolk's communications campaign on exploitation, organisations have been invited to help them test out key messages and give honest feedback so that their campaign is effective in reaching people at risk. There were two focus groups, aiming at projects working with adults and with under 18s. "Beth & I attended and found it incredibly helpful to speak to other services about unique challenges with their client groups. The resources shared are invaluable." Imogen Sagon & Beth McKay, frontline practitioners, who attended on behalf of our Doorway Women's Service.
