Management training

Managers took part in appraisals & performance management refresher training. Charlotte, our Croner Face2Face Consultancy trainer, was engaging, & the sessions were interactive & relevant. A very worthwhile day. Hosted by the King's Centre - nice venue, nice lunch!

Session for professionals

"Great session for professionals this morning, with colleagues from Voluntary Norfolk & TYSS (Targeted Youth Support Service). We gave an overview of The Magdalene Group, including details of latest projects as Doorway's NSAP (Next steps accommodation programme) & Rose's outreach. " Laura Watkins, Outreach & Inclusion CSE Practitioner

Welcome back….

....to Eve-Marie Wright, who joins the team this week. Eve, a UEA student social worker, spent her placement with us earlier in the year, & we are delighted to welcome her back to the Rose team for the summer months.

You might have spotted us…..

....relaxing in the grounds of Norwich Cathedral yesterday afternoon, enjoying a celebratory picnic of cake & bubbles, to welcome our new team members and to recognise recent achievements. The sunshine was glorious, the setting so perfect, and the company - like the wine - was sparkling! What a lovely afternoon; such a treat!

Personality Disorder training

“Staff at The Magdalene Group received a full day’s training on Thursday 3rd June from Simon at Mental Health Training on Personality Disorders, with a key focus on Borderline Personality Disorder, also known as Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder. The workshop covered a breadth of topics, particularly focussing on the key features of the disorder, and how this impacts on both the service user and service provider in a professional relationship. It was a varied and incredibly interesting session and will no doubt impact on our practice moving forward as an organisation.” Jess Hubbard, CSE Practitioner, Rose Project

A warm welcome to….

....Maria Novakova who joins us this week as CSE Practitioner within the Rose Project. We look forward to working with her.

NWG Conference

'I had the opportunity to attend this year's NWG conference with the Rose team. The conference spanned 3 mornings, and was comprised of keynote presentations, along with a variety of elective sessions that covered a variety of topics- from working with parents as safeguarding partners, to understanding how trauma can affect our bodies and minds. I was particularly impacted by the keynote presentation from NoFiltr, on how we can build resilience in our young people to navigate threats online. Overall, the conference was an engaging opportunity to witness how CSE is being tackled and approached by a range of organisations, and has led to group reflections and discussions within the team on how we can implement what we learned.' Eve Wright, Student Social Worker

Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental Health Awareness Week

UK Mental Health Awareness Week takes place this week, from 10th to 16th May, 2021. This year's theme is nature and the environment. The evidence is clear that access to nature is crucial for our mental health, and millions of people discovered that during lockdowns in 2020. However, this was not the same for all of us. MHAW 2021 will explore what the barriers to accessing nature are, and ensure that everyone is able to share in the natural world and experience its mental health benefits. Find out more on how to get involved in this year's campaign at www.mentalhealth.org.uk/campaigns/mental-health-awareness-week.
