Happy Christmas

We would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us through this very difficult year. We are so grateful for your monetary donations, for smaller gifts of clothing & toiletries, & to those of you - volunteers & trustees - who give the gift of time. All of these contributions make such a huge difference to the work of The Magdalene Group. A sincere thank you to you all, & a very happy Christmas!

International day to end violence against sex workers.

International day to end violence against sex workers.

This day was created to call attention to hate crimes committed against sex workers all over the globe. Inaugurated by Dr Annie Sprinkle and started by the Sex Workers Outreach Project USA, the first annual day was in 2003 and was held as a memorial and vigil for the victims of the Green River Killer in Seattle Washington. International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers has empowered workers from over cities around the world to come together and organise against discrimination and remember victims of violence.

Being social online this December: a parent’s guide

Thinkuknow from the CEOP education team : "This year, many of us will be relying on tech over the festive period for entertainment and, most importantly, to keep in touch with friends and family. Here are a few of our resources that you can share with parents, carers and children and young people to help them have a safer online experience over the winter break. Access to new tech over the winter period can provide new opportunities for children and young people but also present risks. Our guide for parents looks at how they can support their child to be safer online this season by focusing on 3 key areas: viewing, sharing, chatting and friending." Presentation to UEA students

“Cat and Jess from the Rose Project team led a presentation on Thursday last week for a group of students studying Education at the University of East Anglia. We covered the signs of exploitation, including push and pull factors, and explored which young people might be more vulnerable. We also spent time explaining our roles within the organisation and how we work with the multi-agency team around the child. Despite having to deliver this virtually in light of the current circumstances, we had some brilliant questions and feedback from the students. Many of them will go on to work with children and young people, and we hope that they can take this knowledge and apply it in their future roles.” Jess Hubbard, CSE practitioner
