Anchor Project Launch

"On Tuesday 2nd April, the Doorway team attended the launch of a new multi-agency domestic abuse project called the Anchor Project. Headed by Leeway, the partnership includes Orwell Housing, Change Grow Live and The Matthew Project. The aim is to support victims of domestic abuse in the best way possible, particularly the most complex cases where there might be multiple needs. The Listening Fund : supporting youth-focused organisations to better listen to young people

Morwenna Chaffe & Jacqueline Kovacevic from The Magdalene Group’s Rose Partnership are attending The Listening Fund Convening 2019 in London. The day includes various workshops as group forums which address the challenges facing organisations in ensuring we continue to listen and empower young people .

NWG Conference

"Staff from The Magdalene Group's Rose Partnership attended the NWG 6th Annual Conference & Unsung Hero Awards on Tuesday 26th & Wednesday 27th March 2019. Over the two days we heard presentations from keynote speakers on the topics of CCE, CSE & County Lines and the impact of exploitation on young people and their families. Alongside this, we were able to attend a number of special interest groups, from services across the country, providing specialist support and sharing their best-practice professional approach when working with anyone affected by exploitation. "We will be providing a Trauma-Informed Practitioner to support our engagement of women and girls affected by sexual exploitation and coercion. We will be using a trauma model to understand the psychological impact of sexual exploitation and enabling women and young people to embark on a path of recovery from trauma and away from those who seek to exploit them. The Trauma-Informed Practitioner will understand how attachment issues impact an individual’s emotional and psychological needs and tailor a programme to address these. Trauma refers to events or circumstances that have lasting impacts on mental, physical, emotional and/or social well-being, it can be a single event or multiple events compounded over time. Recognising the impact of past and present trauma on an individual and understanding their experience is essential in helping them to recover." Sara Plastow, Head of Quality & Compliance

“Monday 18th March; National Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Day 2019 #CSEDay19 Monday was one of the most important days of the year for our ROSE team – for the last 5 years the National Working Group on CSE has been running a day dedicated to raising awareness about CSE, dispensing information and resources, to raise the profile of CSE as a whole and key organisations and crucially, to share key messages around CSE. This year we partook in a variety of ways. Firstly we have launched our new and updated information booklet which you can find via the website – the Police and Crime Commissioner even shared this via their twitter! We also ran an extensive social media campaign where we engaged with key organisations, spread key messages and got involved in the #HelpingHands campaign.” Abbie Haines, Outreach Worker
