C card training

"Three of us from The Rose Project attended training yesterday to deliver the new sexual health service which is being run thoughout the East of England. The C Card Scheme, which is a free sexual health advice and condom service for young people aged 13-25 years, has now been split into two different age categories. We will follow the Terrence Higgins Trust guidelines to deliver a confidential sexual health service for 13-16 year olds throughout Norfolk; we are also able to deliver the C Card Lite service which is for 16-24 year olds. This will be an additional harm-reduction service which will complement all of our healthy relationships and consent work." Becky Bentley, CSE Practitioner

Visit by Simon Bailey

"I was delighted to welcome our new Patron, Simon Bailey, to King Street yesterday afternoon. For those of you who do not know him, Simon has been Chief Constable of the Norfolk Constabulary since 2013 and is the National Police Chiefs’ Council lead on child protection and also leads Operation Hydrant which is an umbrella organisation investigating multiple allegations of historic sexual abuse throughout the United Kingdom. He is highly qualified in our area and it was good of him to take time out of his busy life to visit us. Simon has been interested in The Magdalene Group for many years and this afternoon gave an opportunity for Suzi and the management team to update him. He is very supportive of what we do to help vulnerable women and young people and it was a constructive meeting with a frank and open discussion on many aspects of our work. We have planned regular meetings with him and much look forward to the next one. We are all very grateful for Simon’s advice and support." Georgina Holloway, Chairman of Trustees.

Presentation : St. Giles on the Hill Church

"It was an honour and a privilege to talk at St Giles on the Hill Church, in front of the new Bishop Graham, at their Sunday service. The church has been a valuable supporter of The Magdalene Group for 18 years, & the congregation are always pleased to hear about what has been happening with our projects over the past twelve months." Becky Bentley, CSE Practitioner.

Norwich Pride

Norwich Pride

“Saturday 27th July – Norwich Pride. On Saturday the ROSE Project had a stall in Chapelfield Gardens for Norwich Pride. The atmosphere was amazing and we had such a great time talking to so many people about the work that we do. Becky was great at engaging teenagers and gave out lots of our new booklets on exploitation. We also had a great chat with Clive Lewis and with the Lord Mayor, Vaughan Thomas, about the prominent issues in Norfolk, the great work that ROSE does around CSE and RHIs and the challenges the sector is facing at the moment. Happy Pride everyone!” Abbie Haines, Outreach Worker

"Norwich Pride was huge this year! We were in Chapelfield Gardens, giving out our CSE booklet to lots of teenagers who walked by our stall. Thank you for the opportunity to share safety tips to prevent exploitation to teens who are exploring their sexuality." Becky Bentley, CSE Practitioner
