Supporting Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week…….

"As Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week draws to a close, I thought I would summarise the topics the Doorway team have touched upon on our Twitter. These include: • The need to acknowledge Adult Sexual Exploitation in policy and legislation • Increased police-recorded sexual offences in 2021 • Increased risk of sexual violence among multiple disadvantage women, including minority populations • 'Deserving/Undeserving victims and victim-blaming of sex workers • Reasons why sex workers do not report to the police. If you would like to read more, check out our Twitter." Lydia Davies, Women's Specialist Practitioner

New Year message from our Chair of Trustees

"After a long time with no visitors to The Magdalene Group it has been a pleasure to welcome the High Sheriff, The Lord Mayor of Norwich and the City Sheriff to King Street recently. Michael Gurney, the High Sheriff, is very supportive of the Jigsaw programme and has been talking about it to various people on his visits round the county. The Lord Mayor, Dr. Kevin Maguire, was particularly interested in Pathways and the work The Magdalene Group is doing with the hidden homeless at the moment. He came with Caroline Jarrold , City Sheriff, who was accompanied by her husband, who knows us well and has been responsible for grants in the past. It was really nice to sit and chat with them all over a cup of coffee. I am delighted that at last Suzi had a chance to talk about the work we do, to our civic leaders, and to hear how appreciated that is. They all asked that thanks should be passed on to our staff, particularly for what they did during these past challenging months." Georgina Holloway, Chair of Trustees.
