Restorative Approaches training – 9th January

"On 9th January, several of our staff from across The Magdalene Group attended the Restorative Approaches training delivered by the restorative approaches team in Norfolk County Council. Given that the core of our work at The Magdalene Group is building trusted relationships, this approach is invaluable to our work as it focuses on building, maintaining and repairing relationships. The ‘four choices window’ was particularly useful and suggests how you can balance expectation and support to build a trusted relationship. We also had long discussions about feelings leading into behaviours and shame/blame and how to lead restorative conversations. It was a great day, with very knowledgeable trainers and it’s always good to bounce ideas around with other professionals from different fields.” Abbie Haines

Wellbeing in the Workplace

The team took part in a free workshop led by Mark Bishop, Wellbeing trainer, for the Norfolk & Waveney Wellbeing Service. The focus was building resilience, & reminded us all that - in order to look after others - we need to look after ourselves. It was a useful & thought-provoking session.

Teaching & Learning Day at City College Norwich

Teaching & Learning Day at City College Norwich

Jess and Abbie attended City College Norwich earlier this month to share about the Rose Project and our Transitional service with some of their staff. We took along some of our resources, including a game that encourages young people to share facts and their opinions about sex and relationships, & the booklet we created last year for young people around identifying exploitation. It was also great to meet and reconnect with the other local services and organisations who were represented.

Welcome…..

.....to Charlotte Breen, student social worker, who joins us on placement from the UEA, for the next few weeks. We look forward to working with her.
